HA GIANG – Follow young photographer Duc Phuoc to discover the changing seasons on arid rocky highlands.

The photo series was made by young photographer Nguyen Duc Phuoc, who lives and works in Hanoi, during the occasions when he travels to Ha Giang during the winter-spring flower seasons.

The triangular flower season in Lung Apple, Dong Van is a photo of Duc Phuoc just taken in November when he sees a field of flowers blooming on a hillside of over 5,000 hectares wide. Flower fields are encouraged by local authorities to grow according to plans at different times so that visitors can visit and watch the flowers throughout the season.

A Mong girl in the golden autumn sun. In addition to Lung Apple, visitors can watch the triangular flowers in Lung Cu, Ma Lé, Sung La (Dong Van), Ma Pi Leng (Meo Vac) and Thach Son Than, Quyet Tien (Quan Ba).

“Arriving in Ha Giang in the late autumn and early winter, visitors will feel the clarity of the dewy morning sun, joy in the eyes of children and in the afternoon sun are the brilliant triangular fields”, Duc Phuoc share.

When the old year is over, the gray rocky area, after days of hibernation, will awaken with a variety of flowers to captivate people. In the picture is a group of children running in the middle of yellow mustard flower beds in Meo Vac.

Yellow canola flowers still bloom brilliantly in Pao’s House area in Lung Cam cultural village in Sung La valley, on NH4C, connecting Yen Minh with Dong Van rock plateau.

When you reach the top of the steep 3-way intersection leading to Pho Bang, Sung La valley, you will see a peaceful picture with the daily life of local people. If it comes spring, the familiar scenery will be dotted with the yellow of canola, the pink of cherry blossoms and the white of the plum and pear blossoms.

Lao Xa, Sung La commune, a beautiful small village filled with fresh peach blossoms in the spring that few tourists know. Previously, the village had a lot of cherry blossoms, nowadays less and less, but the local government is gradually recovering.

Children in Lao Xa shy away when the photographer’s lens is facing them.

Plum peach blossoms add white and pink color to the Meo Vac family. From Meo Vac town to along village roads, villages or around the houses of the Mong people, people plant peach blossom trees, adorn the house and the road.

“Before the charming scenery of Ha Giang, it is quite regrettable that these timeless beautiful images are disappearing, the reporter is not as much as it used to be, gradually the fibro-cement roofing is replaced by the yin and yang tile. So, every time I visit the rocky plateau during the blooming season, my heart flutters strangely, “said Duc Phuoc.
