Hang Ma Street is empty of people shopping for Halloween items

HANOI – Due to the impact of the pandemic, Hang Ma Street was empty of shoppers the night before Halloween.

Hanoi has returned to a new normal life after 2 months of isolation, shops are open. However, Hang Ma, the oldest street selling the most Halloween items in the capital, is quite deserted.

On the evening of October 30, the day before Halloween, the shops were full of goods, but very few customers. The main products are plastic pumpkins, prices range from 30,000-200,000 VND/fruit. Pumpkin lamps, ghosts, witches… priced at 50,000-150,000 VND/piece.

Some new items appeared, like the mane costing 15,000 VND.

Mrs. Hoa, a shop owner on Hang Ma Street, said: “Due to the influence of Covid-19, people go shopping less than in previous years.”

The displays for Halloween this year are quite rich, with many choices for buyers.

Halloween is a traditional festival of Western countries held on October 31 every year. This day marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs…

Some families take their children to pick things up, they like masks, plastic pumpkins.

Halloween has been introduced to Vietnam for many years and is loved by young people. Schools, especially schools with international elements, often organize festivals, allowing students to freely create weird costumes.

The girls like the mane attached to the light, the price is about 30,000-50,000 VND/piece.

This year, the costume based on the hit movie “Squid Game” is enjoyed by young people, priced at about 300,000 VND/set.

Baby Chuc An, 5 years old, was brought to Hang Ma by his mother and sister to buy clothes to attend a costume festival at school.

Employees at a store on Hang Ma Street are quite free to sit and watch their phones when customers are empty.
