LAO CAI – With about 2 million VND per person, Hieu and his group of friends had a trekking trip to Ky Quan San peak at 3,046 m high on early winter.

In November, met in Hanoi, then took a bus to Sa Pa, after 3 days 2 nights, a group of friends of Tran Trung Hieu (leftmost), 30 years old, from Hoi An, conquered the summit of Ky Quan San after going through a tough road.

The price of a passenger car to Hanoi – Sa Pa is 260,000 VND one way. Motorbike rental price is 120,000 VND per day from Sa Pa to Sang Ma Giao commune, 45 km from Sa Pa.

Muoi Mountain in Ky Quan San range has the highest peak of over 3,000 m and is the natural boundary between Lai Chau and Lao Cai. It is one of the most beautiful places to watch clouds and sunrise in the northern mountainous region.

Ky Quan San was newly discovered in 2012, is a mysterious place and is still a name not popular with people moving. However, with people trekking and climbing, Ky Quan San always evokes the passion to explore.

“I am addicted to the feeling of trekking, to walk sightseeing and live slowly day after day, away from the noisy daily life is a great experience. Ky Quan San is a beautiful mountain and relatively difficult to climb in. In the North I hope to see a sea of clouds floating in the North, but I can only watch a little clouds on the first day, not as lucky as many others. really “, Hieu said.

At an altitude of over 2,000 m in the territory of Lao Cai province, visitors will encounter a clear view, the most beautiful scenery in the journey to discover Salt Mountain. This is a dense, damp forest and with diverse ecosystems. To catch the sunrise on the top of the mountain, the group had to wake up and prepare to climb the mountain very early.

The most favorite spot to check-in for people moving is the swing set up to attract visitors. Hieu said, himself and his friends very much like the cold feeling of the morning dew and the warm sunshine of rising high mixed together.

There are two climbing directions, one is from Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. The other is from Den Sung village, Sin Sua Ho commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. You can climb on one track and back to one track for more experience.

“This mountain climbing is not easy, especially for office workers. I am a runner, but many parts are exhausted. The weather here is quite cold, down to 8 degrees C at night, so you should Remember to bring warm clothes “, Hieu shared his experience.

A dangerous slope on the way to conquer Ky Quan San of Hieu group.

Group of 10 people should need 3 porters to port the belongings. Most of them are from the Dao ethnic group responsible for bringing food for 3 days of climbing. The price of renting a porter ranges from 300,000 to 500,000 VND per day.

On the top of the mountain, the landscape is very beautiful. Hieu’s group went at the time of autumn to winter, there were still a few romantic orange red maple leaves on the tree branch.

There are very difficult routes, full of roots and rocks, people have to walk slowly and wait for each other.

Compared to many other mountain climbing arcs, preparing furniture for the Ky Quan San climbing trip will be much lighter, when you only need to prepare food and meals that you can buy at Muong Hum market, and energy supplies , clothes, flashlight…. You do not have to bring a tent or sleeping bag anymore but rent a shack overnight for only 80,000 VND per person. You are provided with an insulation sheet, a pillow and a shared blanket (2 people per blanket), with both electricity for charging and 3G.

At night to sleep in the shack, the group gathered by the fire and had a barbecue dinner. For Hieu and his friends this was a wonderful and memorable trekking, especially during the time of Covid-19 no one was able to travel abroad.

If you have time to go on weekdays, because weekends are very crowded, and facilities are simple, an overload will occur. In addition, Hieu emphasized, on the mountain there are still quite a lot of rubbish such as packaging, plastic bags, toilet paper … left by the previous groups, everyone is conscious of keeping hygiene when traveling.
