Lang Co town is more than 60 km from Hue city and about 25 km from Da Nang in the Phu Loc district. Nestled in the middle of a branch of the Truong Son range crashing into the sea, one side is Hai Van pass, the other is Phu Gia pass, near Chan May port, Lang Co appears as a beautiful and long sand dune range. Lang Co area also has tropical forests.

Lang Co Bay has a length of 42.5 km, with clear blue sea water, fine white sand, diverse ecosystems. This is one of the famous landscapes and tourist sites of Thua Thien – Hue province, considered by King Khai Dinh to be a “fairy scene” place. In 2009, Lang Co Bay was voted in the list of “The most beautiful bay in the world” by Worldbays.

Beautiful season

The best time to explore Lang Co Bay is from April to early August.

Located near Da Nang, Lang Co is still north of Hai Van pass, influenced by the northern climate, so there are distinct winters and summers. The average annual temperature is 24-25 degrees Celsius, in which winter can drop to 10 degrees Celsius, summer is nearly 40 degrees Celsius. However, because this area has a large Cau Hai lagoon, the degree of influence of storms and floods, hot and dry west wind is not as severe as other places in Thua Thien Hue province.

Lang Co also has a rainy season from September to December, in which the two most rainy months are October and November.

Move

Lang Co is located along National Highway 1A, at the foot of Hai Van Pass, so it is convenient to travel by road such as a private car or a passenger car.

If traveling by train or plane, visitors should choose the destination as Da Nang. Travel time from the airport/train station to Lang Co is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. If coming to Hue, the travel time will be double.

Airfares range from 2 million to 5 million round trip, depending on the time. The fastest train ticket price is about 2 million VND.

Stay

Lang Co has a diverse system of motels, hotels and resorts, serving a wide range of guests. Budget hotels are located along National Highway 1A, with prices ranging from 300,000 VND per night. Some addresses are highly rated on booking websites such as BH Villa Lang Co, Ha Phuong Homestay, Anh Dung Guesthouse.

More upscale accommodations include Lang Co Beach Resort. This is a resort located right on National Highway 1A, the town center, 4 star standard, with a large swimming pool and minimal amenities for visitors. Room rates at Lang Co Beach Resort range from 700,000 VND ($1=24,000 VND)per night, depending on the time.

About 20 km from the town center are two 5-star resorts Angsana Lang Co and Banyan Tree Lang Co, on Canh Duong beach. The two resorts have high-class facilities such as a large swimming pool, golf course, gym, and spa.

Angsana Lăng Cô has 229 rooms with an area from 52 m2 to 179 m2, more than 100 private pool rooms from 3 million VND per night. The interior is traditionally designed, but still has a modern style, with eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, rattan, and palm trees creating a feeling like among Hue houses.

Bach Ma National Park

Bach Ma National Park is about 30 km from Lang Co town center. The terrain in the national park is hilly and steep. Bach Ma Peak is 1,450 m high, an ideal place for many tourists who love trekking. If you have time, you can trek the entire arc in 2-3 days, or just combine trekking and car ride to the top in about 6-7 hours.

Hai Vong Dai on the top, Do Quyen waterfall, Ngu Ho with the five most beautiful lakes in Bach Ma forest, clear and cool streams… are places not to be missed on the trekking journey. You can spend the night outside the garden gate, in an old French villa on the way to the top or camp in the national park area.

Hai Van Quan

Hai Van Quan was built in 1826, is a military stronghold on the top of Hai Van pass, also the geographical boundary of Thua Thien – Hue province and Da Nang city. Hai Van Quan crosses a mountain range into the sea from the Truong Son range. The top of Hai Van pass is about 15 km from Lang Co. This is also a beautiful view of Lang Co Bay. Visitors can stroll in a morning or afternoon, stopping for coffee at the top.

Lap An lagoon

The lagoon is located at the foot of Phu Gia Pass, nearly 5 km from the center of Lang Co town, surrounded by Bach Ma mountain. Visitors should come to the lagoon in the early morning, when the tide is low, so that they can see the path separating the water in the middle of the lagoon. This was also the favorite fishing place of King Khai Dinh and Bao Dai every summer. Near the lagoon, there is a small fishing village with local seafood restaurants, an ideal place to have lunch and explore the specialties of Lang Co.

Don Ca arch bridge

Don Ca arch bridge is located at the foot of Hai Van pass. Around 1881-1885, the first railway line in Vietnam with a length of 70 km connecting Saigon – My Tho was started by the French. By the early 20th century, the route continued to be built through Hai Van pass with a total length of 28 km, with 18 bridges, including Don Ca arch bridge. The bridge was inaugurated around 1906, with the architecture of 4 arches, built mainly of stone, 20 m high with a length of about 100 m. Currently, the bridge plays an important role in the North-South railway line and is a check-in place that attracts young people.

Not located on the highway, but the bridge is quite easy to find. From the city center of Hue or Da Nang, you go towards Hai Van Bac station, near Hai Van Quan. From Hai Van Bac station, continue for about 1 km.

Lang Co Bay has many beautiful beaches, of which Canh Duong, Lang Co and Binh An are the three most prominent. At Canh Duong beach, dawn is the most beautiful time of the day. Visitors can watch the scene of the sun gradually rising from the horizon, embracing the arc-shaped beach, the sun’s rays shining on the sea surface creating a sparkling effect. There are also many camping services, renting tents by the beach. Visitors can rent boats from fishermen to explore the sea at the foot of Hai Van Pass.

Eat what

Seafood grown and caught right in Lang Co Bay is quite rich and of good quality. A special thing in Lang Co is that you can stop and eat at any of the small restaurants along the road, especially the area at the bottom of Lang Co slope. A full bowl of seafood porridge for breakfast starts at 25,000 VND, or a full lunch costs about 200,000 VND to 300,000 VND per person.

There are some famous delicious seafood here such as oysters, shrimp, squid, abalone. Some famous addresses such as Viet Long floating restaurant, Minh Tam restaurant, Be Than restaurant, Anh Phi, Vietpearl. In addition, floating rafts in Lap An lagoon area are also an option for tourists.

Note

Hai Van pass tunnel is only for cars, so if you ride a motorbike up the pass, when you return to Lang Co, you will also have to go through the pass, or send your motorbike on a transport vehicle.

Some beaches in Lang Co do not have warning signs and permanent rescue teams, so when swimming, you need to avoid deep water sections to ensure safety.

In the evening in Lang Co, there are not too many entertainment activities because it is located quite far from the city center.
