Due to the lack of tourism exploitation, the cave has many stalactites, natural puddles, with pristine and enchanting beauty.

In early October, Nguyen Trung Duc (31 years old) is currently a freelance guide in the Ha Giang – Northeast area with a group of friends to the cave to explore and camp overnight. Dung cave (or Dan Pioong cave) in Muong village, Bach Ngoc commune, Vi Xuyen district, was recognized as a national relic in 2014 thanks to its many unique and unspoiled geographical and geological values.

Inside the cave, there are many large pools of water, surrounded by giant stalactites.

About 40 km from the center of Ha Giang city, you can reach the foot of the mountain where the cave is located by motorbike or car, but the road is a bit bad. From the foot of the mountain to the mouth of the cave is not far, but the road follows the mountainside. Duc shared, this last section of the road is narrow and steep, so you shouldn’t travel by motorbike by yourself, it’s easy to be in danger. You can trek up to the cave yourself or hire a motorbike taxi service from a local, but walking will give you more time to enjoy the fresh nature.

Arriving at the entrance of the cave, you can have a panoramic view of the center of Bach Ngoc commune with peaceful and green fields and roofs. The distance to the cave according to Duc said there will be many surprises. Due to the lack of tourist services, the cave is completely unspoiled, with its unique location, there is no electricity for lighting or phone waves. Visitors will have the feeling of entering another world separate from the outside world, surrounded by only rock formations with strange shapes.

Dung cave consists of 2 main caves with 4 different branches, about 5 hours to travel and explore. The cave is quite wet and slippery, the more you enter, the more you will see the dark corners covered with strange-shaped stalactites. In which, the most impressive is the stalactite waterfall with a height of more than 20 m pouring down to the bottom of the cave. When there is light shining, the waterfall becomes shimmering.

The layers of soil and rock are layered in the Dung cave. Guests can come here on their own or on a tour with the price of 1,550,000 VND/person for groups of less than 15 people.

Duc said: “The deeper you go into the cave, the more unexpected challenges await you. Many sections have to crawl, slippery, difficult to walk, but it is easy to encounter pure groundwater with many filtered minerals. The steam in the cave rises to form a magical mist like a fairyland that makes everyone excited.”

The cave can accommodate up to 40-50 people, guests can camp at the entrance of the cave to catch the sunrise or inside the cave to enjoy the isolated and quiet space. The German team chose to camp in the cave, bringing ready-made food because it could not be processed on the spot, which would change the temperature and biosphere in the cave. The group brought decorative lights and lighting to create a very cozy camping corner. High humidity, Germany has prepared waterproof tents, thick sleeping bags, so sleeping at night is quite comfortable.

With many years of experience as a guide and also a Ha Giang native, Duc advises visitors to the cave to be accompanied by a local or on a tour for about 2 days and 1 night. Currently, the cave does not have a guide at the site and mainly visitors come to discover it themselves, so pay attention not to touch the stalactites to kill or break them, do not litter indiscriminately to protect the environment. In addition, before going, it is necessary to prepare a tent, protective gear, suitable shoes for walking, climbing, and warm, breathable clothing.
