HO CHI MINH CITY – Museum of Campaign Ho Chi Minh (District 1) displays artifacts, including a national treasure related to victory in 1975.

Ho Chi Minh Campaign Museum (No. 2 Le Duan Street, District 1) was established in 1986, located in a building built in the early 20th century. Before 1975, this building was the College of Defense.

Originally, this was the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Gallery of the South East Armed Forces Museum. At the end of 2020, the Ministry of Defense will upgrade the building to an independent museum, managed by Military Region 7. The museum was officially established in January 2021.

Ho Chi Minh campaign, which took place from April 26 to 30, 1975, was the last campaign in the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, contributing to the end of the war and the reunification of the country.

The entire museum is divided into two parts: an indoor display area of ​​1,000 square meters and an outdoor display area of ​​2,000 square meters. Currently, the museum displays 6,293 artifacts and more than 500 documentary images, including 2,881 original artifacts.

Prominent in the main exhibition area at the entrance is a large table that describes the main developments of the Ho Chi Minh campaign. Above, a movie screen shows the entire campaign in Vietnamese, English and French.

Behind the large exhibition area are small rooms, divided into separate topics according to the historical progress of the Ho Chi Minh campaign.

The most valuable in the museum is the direct book of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. In the notebook, the officers on duty of the headquarters of the headquarters at the forward headquarters in Cam Xe, Binh Duong recorded the progress of the campaign from April 25 to May 1, 1975. The book records the names of the person on duty, the military situation of our army and the enemy, the situation of food, weapons, attack arrows, main targets in Saigon … This artifact is recognized as the National Treasure family.

Visitors can admire the weapons, flags, banners, pictures … used in the campaign.

The motorbike for the liberation of the Southeast was used to transfer dispatches and war orders from the headquarters to the units from 1965 – 1975.

The boat of the veterans of Military Region 7 is used to transport troops and technical equipment during the campaign.

The museum displays many personal mementos, portraits of generals who participated in the campaign. Highlights are the military uniform, diary and magnifying glass used by General Van Tien Dung during the war years until the reunification of the country.

Hundreds of pictures and maps of the Ho Chi Minh campaign’s developments are hung in the museum. The highlight is the picture of a liberation army tank entering the Independence Palace, marking the victory of the campaign and unifying the country.
