After more than a month of construction, the Saigon River bank on the Thu Thiem urban area, Thu Duc City, has basically been renovated into a park, and will put into use some items from December 23. Compared to three months ago, the riverbank is no longer pristine, the main road is wider, and small projects and landscapes are gradually taking shape.
The renovated section is 600 m long, 40 m wide on average, from the Saigon River tunnel to near Ba Son bridge, with a total area of nearly 20 hectares. The park’s investment cost is about 90 billion VND, from socialization sources.

In the section near Thu Thiem church, the main road is paved with asphalt and sidewalks instead of gravel as before. Branch paths for pedestrians along the riverbank are paved with bricks, planted with trees, and illuminated to replace the bushes like before.
In the center of the park, near An Khanh communal house, there is a 5,200 m2 sunflower field , divided into square beds on the riverbank.
According to the plan, 35,000 sunflower trees will be planted, with 15,000 trees blooming on New Year’s Eve. Between the flower beds, there is a small bridge for people and tourists to visit and take photos.

Currently, some sunflowers have flowered and are expected to bloom during the upcoming New Year holiday. About 20,000 remaining trees will continue to be planted to bloom in time for Lunar New Year 2024.
“If the weather remains as sunny as it is now, thousands of sunflowers will bloom in a week,” said a male garden worker.
Many types of trees and flowers are planted along the walking paths to create highlights that attract people and tourists. In the near future, many amenities will be added around the area such as seats combined with rows of decorative flowers, gravel walkways along the lawn…

The old wharf area was upgraded, a waiting house was built, and bushes were cleared so that there was no longer a desolate scene like before. Opposite the wharf is a multi-purpose community yard and fountain that are also being implemented by the contractor.
Along with the above items, parking lots and public toilets are also put into synchronous operation so that people can conveniently come and have fun.

The remaining items in the park are being accelerated by the unit, to be completed before the Lunar New Year 2024. Particularly, some items need a lot of construction time and are large in scale, such as renovating Ong Cay bridge into a pedestrian bridge. Ministry, ecological park (6-7 hectares wide) is expected to be put into use in April next year. The tunnel roof area is expected to arrange a number of decorative works such as: ferris wheel, walking bridge, landscape arch…
