Long Chau Lighthouse is located on Long Chau Island, Cat Hai Island District, Hai Phong. The island is located about 50km from the city center in Lan Ha Bay, southeast of Cat Ba Island.

Long Chau stone island is about 1km2 wide, surrounded by wild and rugged terrain, full of sharp gray cat ears, emerging between four cold waves. The harsh living conditions of the island’s rocky terrain make it difficult for trees to grow. Because of that, it makes Long Chau Island more different and less vibrant than other green islands in the area.

The lighthouse 109.5m above sea level was built in 1894 by a Frenchman. Along with Hon Dau lighthouse and Ke Ga lighthouse, Long Chau lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Vietnam, now more than 100 years old.

The building has a unique dome-shaped architecture and is surrounded by strong cells. In the middle of the tower is a room with a combination of flat reflectors consisting of many small light bulbs, forming the heart of the lamp.
