THANH HOA – Cam Luong God Fish Stream is home to thousands of fish, containing many mysterious anecdotes.

Cam Luong is also known as Ngoc village god fish stream, located on the north bank of Ma river, Ngoc village, Cam Luong commune, Cam Thuy district. The stream is about 100 meters long, a place that attracts tourists to watch thousands of fish, but no one dares to catch it. This stream is associated with the legend of the Snake god, worshiped by the people at a temple by the stream.

In front of the temple, there are thousands of fish that come to worship the god day and night. Therefore, people in the region never catch and eat fish from the Cam Luong stream, and have been used to calling it a divine fish stream since then.

According to scientists, the fish in the stream are sloping fish, belonging to the carp order and listed in the Vietnam Red Book. The fish has a head like a carp, but a body like a river carp. The sloping fish is dark blue, bright red on both sides, and emits silver light when swimming, but there are also colorful fish such as orange and pink. The fish here weigh about 3.4 kg, some weigh up to 10 kg. The largest fish is the king fish, weighing about 30 kg. They are very gluttonous, bold with people. Here, guests can feed the fish with vegetables, chips, corn… However, they do not bite human fingers, and do not allow guests to touch them.

What makes this stream mysterious is that the fish only swim in exactly 100 meters of the stream. People in the area recounted that the fish did not drift away when the flood water poured in, the big ones got into the cave to hide, the small ones, if swept away by the water, also know how to swim again. Trinh Nam Thai, during his visit to this place, was told many mysterious anecdotes by locals around the stream. They believe that some people have died while eating magic fish, but there have been a group of young people who were unlucky and had a traffic accident after playing and catching fish. The next strange thing is that although the fish is very crowded, the spring water is always clear, no fishy smell, people still use it for living and cooking.

In addition to the fish stream, Cam Luong also attracts tourists by the overlapping limestone mountains on the left bank of the Ma River and the pristine mountain scenery. Every year on the occasion of the first lunar month, the stream attracts tourists from all over the world to the traditional Muong fish procession festival to pray for peace and prosperity. In the fish stream complex, there is also a Ngoc Temple worshiping the Four Palaces of Long Vuong, above there is Cay Dang cave with many stalactites. Cam Luong fish stream is 88 km from Thanh Hoa city, takes about 2 hours to travel; 133 km from Hanoi, it takes about 3 hours to travel.
