One day wandering on the Gam river (section through Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang), I had the opportunity to admire the wild beauty of the white waterfall, the mountains overlapping in the Northeast.

Through the winding pass road winding on the precarious mountainside, I arrived at the boat station in Bac Me district (Ha Giang), started the journey down the Gam river to Binh Lam wharf (Tuyen Quang). The big boat took us along a length of about 70 km along the river, which was almost calm and quiet for 6 hours. In 2005, after the dam gate of Tuyen Quang hydroelectric power plant (in Na Hang town) closed, the lakebed area of 8,000 hectares with a unique landscape appeared, attracting tourists from all over the world to visit. .
Up to now, the destination still has the pristine beauty of the mountainous region. The beauty of the lake changes with the seasons. From September to February next year, the water level is high, can reach the top line (about 120 m above sea level), the lake’s surface is vast, covered with green trees. In the low water season (February-September), the lake bed dries up to reveal islets, strange shaped limestone cave.
According to Ms. Dinh Tra My, an officer of the Management Board of Tuyen Quang tourist areas, the 99 mountains gathered together are remembered as “Ha Long Bay in the middle of a thousand” and Vai Pha, a towering stone pillar nearly 100 meters high. calculated from the bottom of the river (the poles of the sky buffalo in the Tay language), is the most beautiful and impressive area. In addition, around the lake, there are many interesting natural scenes, such as famous waterfalls such as Khuoi Gun, Khuoi Nhi, Nam Me…
White waterfall in the middle of the jungle
For generations, Gam river has become a cultural source, associated with the lifeline of residents along the banks, mainly the Mong, Dao, Tay… On the journey, we listened to the tunes. Then of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups, taste the delicious food of Tuyen Quang, raw fish and shrimp caught from rivers and streams in this region. At the end of the trip, Khuoi Nhi waterfall, located in Thuong Lam commune (Lam Binh) welcomed us with fresh air, tall trees shaded the path.
The waterfall has many layers, flowing 3 km long from the top of the mountain to the lake bed. Here, visitors can experience fishing, climbing, bathing in waterfalls, feeding fish, cooking by the lake, camping, and kayaking. You go a little along the trail to find the top of the waterfall. Here, the water strongly bounces down from high to white foam. Every year, Nong Thi Huyen spends time visiting Khuoi Nhi waterfall 2-3 times. From Ben Thuy (Na Hang town), female tourists rent a large boat for 1.5 million VND with friends to the waterfall to have fun. “The air here is fresh and peaceful, just my taste. I’m glad that after the epidemic disrupted tourism, the number of visitors to the waterfall has tended to increase”, Ms. Huyen said.
