The 500-year-old banyan tree has a huge root system that forms the most "unique" village gate in Hung Yen

Not wrapping bricks, or reinforced cement, not gilded designs with gems, … the village gate of Tran Phu, Tan Hung commune, Tien Lu, Hung Yen was made up of the roots of an old banyan tree over 400 years old. . Branches, roots, … of the banyan tree emerged from the ground, rise to the sky, then suddenly wrapped tightly, creating a gap below like a village gate.

It is known that this “old man” in the past was planted next to a shrine to worship the village royal citadel. Over a few hundred years, the tree remained. Also suffering from wind, rain, storm, thunder, sometimes the children playfully set fire, this unique “village gate” is now somewhat old and ragged.

This banyan tree is recognized by the People’s Committee of Hung Yen province as a multi-heritage tree.
