At 9:30 p.m. on the 29th of the Lunar New Year, Le embraced 10 branches of glass, moving step by step in the stream of people buying flowers at Quang Ba market.

“The only difference compared to last year is that people wear masks, the rest of the flower market is still crowded like no Covid-19,” commented Le. For the Hanoi people, Quang Ba market (Tay Ho, Hanoi) is not only a hub to provide fresh flowers to the capital, but also a typical cultural destination every Tet holiday.

Le said that every year, she used to go to the market at noon 30 because the days before were very crowded. This year, because you invited and thought the epidemic was more destructive, she decided to go earlier.

However, the more at night, the more crowded people come to the market. Trucks and motorbikes constantly carry flowers from the garden to replenish, creating a stream of people, alternating congestion.

This year, the types of flowers on sale are not too diverse, except for some imported flowers such as American apricot or Japanese peach (sakura). These flowers are priced at 1-1.5 million VND per bunch of ten stems. As for the traditional flowers, the price is a bit cheaper than last year. “Ly this year has not seen any place to challenge 600,000 VND per bundle,” she said.

Hand out each branch of flowers for the guests to admire, Ms. Hang, a small trader, emphasized “without a Covid, this price is still a long way from now”. According to her, although she still sells goods, the average price of flowers has decreased by 30-40% compared to the previous year, some types have decreased by only half. For example, rice paddy costs 100,000 three bundles, last year a bunch of 70,000-100,000 dong, a glass of 100,000-5,000 dong a bunch depending on color, single or double wings, rose gold buds from nearly 1 million dong, big bundles were only 600,000. copper…

According to the survey, flower prices at stalls do not have much difference. Traditional flowers such as gladiolus, violet, dahlia, cost 100,000-150,000 VND per bunch, moth orchid, cymbidium, 500,000-700,000 VND, bunch of 10 branches … Tuyet mai, willow stick are also sold relatively. many, the affordable price is 100,000-200,000 VND per bundle. In the past, these flowers were often sold at large shops or online for 200,000-270,000 VND.

Many flower owners also began to hang signs of discharge. For example, Da Lat moth orchids were offered for 150,000 VND, a bundle of apricot snow 80,000 VND, willow 140,000 VND … A woman watching the baby flower attentively said that she was haggling for the price and remarking the year. Now buy cheaper and more bargain than before.

Another flower owner lamented, trying to sell the whole night and then back. Last year, he sold unceasingly and this year he accepted a loss just to run out of flowers. The seller is also comfortable for customers to bargain, raise and check flowers many times even though they do not buy. However, with these remaining flowers, buyers are not interested, but because the flowers are not beautiful, the branches are small, the leaves are not fresh.

In addition to the selection of pink glasses after going through the two markets, Le said she would order some more flowers such as orchids, peru (narcissus) … at online shops or stores for fresh flowers and more beautiful, accepting the price that is 50,000-100,000 VND more expensive than traditional markets.
