AN GIANG – The bull race was held later every year, with the first paragliding show in the South West, attracting more than 10,000 viewers.
On November 28, 8 pairs of cows participated in the race at Soai Chek Stadium, Nui To Commune, Tri Ton District. The race is part of the paragliding show “Flying on Phung Hoang Son” by Tri Ton District People’s Committee in coordination with the City Paragliding Association. Organized by Hanoi. Although not a traditional bull race, the show attracted more than 10,000 spectators.
Due to the complicated situation of Covid-19, the People’s Committee of An Giang province did not organize the Bay Nui bull racing festival in 2020. Because the race took place later than every year, Tri Ton entered the dry season (from December to May), causing the water on the track to rapidly evaporate. Each pair of cows comes together with a yoke, numbered according to the lottery. Some cows wear rattles on their necks, which are rosewood beads for cattle, which means good luck. The rope is the reward of the pair of good plows and fast racing.
In the match, two pairs ran around the 5.5-hectare Soai Chek (55,000 m2) yard. In which, the first half of the way is a “hô” (slow speed ride), and the other half is a “drop” round (speeding up to the finish line).
Many spectators, especially photographers, love to watch the “drop” ring. They gathered close to the edge of the track to catch all the dramatic moments when two bull teams sprinted to the finish.
Spectators of many ages, locals and tourists from elsewhere, gathered in the stadium from around 7am until the race ended around 11am.

Parallel to the bull race, visitors can also see paragliding performances of nearly 90 pilots from Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City. The pilots departed from Co To mountain (Phung Hoang Son), flew over Ta Pa field and landed in the bull racing field. Mr. Tran Minh Giang, Vice Chairman of Tri Ton District People’s Committee, said that this was the first time paragliding was held in Tri Ton district and the Mekong Delta region and this sport is suitable for the natural conditions of the district.
