HO CHI MINH CITY – Thu Duc Church is more than 130 years old, still intact its original architecture.

Thu Duc Church (Vo Van Ngan street) was built in 1889. When it was first built, there was only the middle part and the bell tower of the church. Until the 1930s, the two wings of the bell tower was built and expanded as today.

Currently, the architecture of the church is still intact as before, located on a high mound, with an area of 6,400 m2.

The front of the church stands out with a bell tower about 15 meters high, built in Gothic architectural style.

In the roof corners of the front of the church, there are 4 small towers with holy statues and floating reliefs bearing the characteristic of Gothich architecture.

The space in the church has an area of about 800 m2, with curved arches, high walls and many doors. The dome of the church is shaped like many canned fruits, creating the feeling of the cathedral is wide and high.

The sanctuary in the center of the cathedral is the most solemn place of the church, which has been redecorated in preparation for Christmas – the largest holiday for Catholics.

Columns in the cathedral are arched, with symmetrical designs. The columns are not fussy but still beautiful thanks to the elegant decorative lines.

Among the arches are white glass windows depicting images of each of the tribulations that Lord Giesu went through; instead of stained-glass doors commonly found in churches.

In the chapel there is still a winding iron staircase since the church was built, leading up to the bell tower.

The bell was cast in 1878, dating from before the church was built.

On the campus, the highlight is the cave about 4 meters high, beautifully decorated every Christmas.

In the evening, the church attracts people in the area to visit, take pictures with caves, princess statues …

The whole scene of Thu Duc church shimmering during Christmas.
