The photo of harvesting eagle grass won the international first prize

The moment the people of Long An harvested the grass won the first prize in the Portrait category of the Skypixel overhead photo contest.

Skypixel is a world-famous photo and video contest taken with a remote control device (drone). 2021 is the 7th year the contest takes place and has attracted nearly 30,000 entries submitted from all over the world. The photo contest is divided into 4 categories: Nature, Architecture, Portrait and Sports.

The results of the new Skypixel 2021 contest were announced, in which the work “Harvesting eagle grass” by author Nguyen Huu Binh won the first prize in the Portrait category.

He said he captured the moment when people transported and tied bundles of eagle grass to bring back to the field in December 2021 in My Hanh Bac commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An province. My Hanh Bac is an alkaline soil, so farmers can grow grass as a raw material in the production of straws to replace plastic straws to protect the environment.

The photo work that won the final special prize went to Chinese photographer Zhu Jianxin. This photo captures abstract shapes created after heavy snowfall on a lake in the Taklamakan desert in Xinjiang.

Stephen Foster, judge of the competition, commented on the work: “The real art in photography is taking a picture that makes people analyze it for a few seconds longer to understand the picture.”

“Perfect Chaos” by Italian photographer Sara Zanini won first prize in the Architecture category. This photo shows thousands of houses located close to the mountainside in the Gangi region, Sicily in southern Italy.

The second prize winner in the Architecture category of Skypixel was taken at the Qintai Art Museum, Hubei Province by a Chinese author with an Age of Stone account.

The third prize in the Architecture category was also taken in Hubei, China by photographer GoEricGo. The front view from above looks down to a lake with a tree path with brilliant yellow leaves.

The photo “Scream” by Russian author Nikita Dukhnik won the first prize in the Nature category of the 7th Skypixel organization.

Chinese photographer with account Mark 的视界 won second prize in the Nature category with a shot of Tibet overhead.

The magical beauty of the nature of the American West makes viewers feel like a scene on Mars. The work that won the third prize in the Nature photo category belongs to the author with the account Lou.

The winning entry in the Sports category was Ekaterina Polischuk’s Basketball. She is a Ukrainian photographer specializing in photography of nature, travel… from above.

The second prize in the Portrait category went to a Chinese author with the account 张扬的小 强, with a photo of a family sunbathing in the middle of a salt lake.
