According to records, in 1986, Thich Thanh Tu dreamed that he was holding the neck of a phoenix and flying to the sky. From this dream, he realized, Da Lat is really suitable as a gathering place for monks and nuns – because of the favorable climate, nature, freshness and tranquility.

By 1993, Truc Lam Da Lat Zen Monastery was put into construction, and very quickly after only 1 year the monastery was completed. The owners of this design are architects Tran Duc Loc, Ngo Viet Thu and Vu Xuan Hung.
