Our sun-hiding journey started at 15 o’clock, by motorbike, it took about 4 hours to reach the forest gate. The road is quite easy, only bumpy and winding, the Ta Lai road, the rest, even though it is dark, we still feel comfortable, safe and fascinated by the natural mountain atmosphere here.
Unlike I thought, along with the gate of Nam Cat Tien forest, the homestay overlooks the river or the forest quite a lot, it’s a weekend, so guests coming to hide from the sun are quite crowded, in contrast to the wild, dark scene, only The sound of insects or wild animals as I imagined.

The next morning, we stayed up early to prepare to go into the woods to hide from the sun. The ticket price here is 60,000 VND / person. To reach the other green world, I have to pass a ferry, cross the Dong Nai River … less than 5 minutes. In the middle of a hot summer afternoon, however, just setting foot in the forest, the air becomes strangely fresh and cool.
Renting a bicycle, preparing mineral water, tissue paper, a conical hat and long-sleeved clothes, we started to hide from the sun and explore Nam Cat Tien forest. According to the instructions of the people here, because the forest is very dry in the dry season, I just need to wear long-sleeved clothes and spray mosquito repellent to be able to walk safely in the forest.
The recommended season to escape the sun and visit Nam Cat Tien forest is from November to May, because this is the dry season, you can easily move around, as well as avoid some scary insects such as squeezing. The characteristic of Nam Cat Tien National Park is a tropical moist lowland forest with a rich and diverse fauna and flora. We witnessed with our own eyes multifaceted vegetation, read the names of the first-time plants, fell in love with unnamed flowers, zoomed out into the Ben Cu rapids.
Standing in the shadow, sweat drops under the conical hat can not stop us from cycling more than 3.5 km on a red dirt road full of rock, different from the original concrete road to Heaven Waterfall. The journey seemed to last indefinitely until the sound of the waterfall called out to the ear. We breathed a sigh, sat on the muzzle, let the sound of the waterfall wash away our troubles, the “dust” that had filled our soul ever since.
Nam Cat Tien forest is still famous for the butterfly flying season, but the part I went was not there, only a few colorful butterflies appeared on the road, parked on the bicycle, and then flew away.

The journey to escape the sun and explore the forest is still long, because time does not allow and avoid the dark, so we can only walk for more than a few kilometers. Journey to discover Bau Sau, watching night animals or visiting Ta Lai village is still open. I had to resend an appointment with the forest.It only took no more than 2 days, temporarily away from work, narrow rooms, we escaped the sun to mingle with nature, feeling a very different aftertaste of life.
I took the ferry back to the other side of the river, watching groups of students, young people carrying armpits, in turn, preparing to go to the forest to camp. Nam Cat Tien is a great place to organize extracurricular activities, camping, connecting friends and family.
