3 Vietnamese cities in the top of the best destinations

Time magazine selected Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc in the top 100 best destinations in the world in 2021.

On July 20, Time magazine, famous for its prestigious lists of votes, especially the annual top 100 global influencers, listed the top 100 best destinations in the world in 2021. This year’s list was selected according to the criteria of beautiful, resilient and responsive tourist cities in the midst of Covid-19. For this list, Time solicited nominations across countries, regions, cities, and towns, targeting locations that offer new and exciting experiences. The list is born with 100 unique destinations, from the idyllic Portuguese town of Arouca, which now has the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, to Antarctica, which will experience a total solar eclipse next year. Ho Chi Minh City is likened by Time to “the taste of Vietnam” when gathering many famous restaurants. Chef Peter Cuong Franklin’s Anan Saigon is the first restaurant in the region to earn a spot in the top 50 best restaurants in Asia. Here, the chef gets creative on classics like pho and dipping cakes. Recently launched restaurants include Monkey Gallery, where chef Viet Hong combines techniques and flavors from Vietnamese, French and Japanese cuisines. Esta, a modern Asian restaurant with an ever-changing menu, ranges from smoked eel patties to veal brisket sandwiches. Inspiring and delicious at the same time is Ivoire, a bakery that specializes in picture-perfect Vietnamese interpretations of classic French pastries, including small cakes and macarons.
