QUANG TRI – The natural beauty of Quang Tri makes visitors change their view of the land that once rained bombs and bullets.

The land of Quang Tri is known as the location of the 17th parallel, the temporary North-South military line and the place where many relics of the national resistance are kept. Today, Quang Tri owns cultural and historical tourism resources with historical landmarks such as Vinh Moc tunnels, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Nine – Khe Sanh Streets, Ho Chi Minh Road; Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery. Besides, Quang Tri’s nature also replaces itself with charming mountains, high mountains and wide sea, becoming a potential tourist destination for tourists to explore.

As a son of Quang Tri, Tran Minh Hieu, now a tour guide, said that his hometown has places of unspoiled and peaceful beauty, contributing to the diverse beauty of Vietnam’s nature. These are all free places, visitors can come at many times of the year.

Coming to Quang Tri in the summer, Mr. Hieu suggested that tourists should go to Trieu Lang beach in Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district, about 20 km from Dong Ha city. Trieu Lang beach has flat sand and shallow water, the scene at dawn like the infinity beach has been loved by many people in recent years. The calm sea surface reflects the color of the sky, the boats turn the waves and run to the sea to bring back shrimp and fish. The scene is peaceful, gentle but becomes brilliant and lively under the early rays of the day.

Fishing and harvesting activities of fishermen in Trieu Lang commune take place in the early morning before dawn. Not as bustling as Tam Tien fish market in Quang Nam, Trieu Lang gives visitors the feeling of a sea with a slow and calm pace of life.

“Trieu Lang is suitable for tourists who come to rest, relax, listen to the sound of the waves, bury their feet in the fine sand or enjoy the sun and wind of a fresh sea,” said Mr. Hieu.

Trieu Lang beach is located near the lotus lake in An Luu village and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Mr. Hieu suggested visitors can combine visits in the morning schedule.

In November 2021, 19 wind power projects in Huong Linh commune, Huong Hoa district went into operation, turning this place into a “wind valley”. Most of the wind power poles are located on top of the hills, along with the topography of Huong Hoa district which is the highland of Quang Tri, the wind power field in Huong Linh commune becomes an ideal place to check in and hunt for clouds.

Businesses have opened major roads during the construction of the project, so moving here is quite convenient. To see the panoramic view of the wind power field in Huong Linh commune, visitors can move to the top of Cu Vo hill, also located in Huong Hoa district.

Cu Vo Peak has an altitude of about 1,617 m above sea level, known by tourists who have visited as the most beautiful place to watch the sun in Quang Tri.

During his trips, Mr. Hieu often comes here to camp in the afternoon to watch the sunset and hunt for clouds early the next morning. The sunset on Cu Vo peak is a brilliant yellow and orange color spreading over the dark blue sky. The last rays of the sun receded through the hamlet and village at the foot of the mountain and disappeared behind the distant horizon, signaling the end of a day.

In summer, the weather on Cu Vo peak is cool, the air is airy and fresh. At night, the starry sky and the sounds of insects behind the bushes and grass will make visitors feel more clearly the unspoiled nature of this mountainous commune.

The reward in the early morning of the next day for visitors is a sea of white clouds as porous as cotton. Layers of thick clouds extruded, covering the landscape below, stretching endlessly. At dawn, the first sunlight of the day spreads on the sea of clouds a light yellow color and then darkens until the sun rises completely.

According to Mr. Hieu’s experience, the sea of clouds often appears on days with high humidity, starting before dawn and lasting for about 30 minutes. For successful cloud hunting, visitors should check the weather forecast before going.

Located at the foot of Cu Vo peak, Rao Quan hydroelectric lake surprised Mr. Hieu the first time he came by the scenery like Central Asia with the winding water flowing through the dry forest. In the dry season, the water level is shallow, the lake is like a peaceful “oasis”, covered with the cool green color of trees, mountains and forests.

Rao Quan Lake has a capacity of about 163 million m3, located in the upstream area of Thach Han River in Huong Hoa district. On the lakeside, there is a large tree, commonly known as the “Lonely Tree” with the background of mountains and hills, and the giant wind blades that are slowly rotating is also a famous check-in point here.

If you love community eco-tours, you can go to Chenh Venh village, Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district, to trek Chenh Venh waterfall, combine with learning about the life of ethnic minorities Bru – Van Kieu .

Chenh Venh Waterfall is located in Chenh Venh forest in the village of the same name. Along the stream leading to the waterfall are large rocks encroaching into the stream bed. The two banks are gray-brown “stone walls” with trees covering them. The trail to the waterfall has been cleared for the convenience of visitors.

Tourists coming here can stay at Ro Ve hamlet managed by the people of Chenh Venh village to learn more about the culture of the indigenous people.

In addition to Chenh Venh waterfall, visitors can visit Ta Puong waterfall and Ta Puong cultural village with peaceful stilt houses of the Pa Co and Van Kieu ethnic groups.

Ta Puong waterfall system includes Ta Puong 1 waterfall, about 30 – 35 m high, with large water flow all year round. About 20 minutes walk from Ta Puong 1 waterfall downstream is Ta Puong 2 waterfall (pictured). Visitors can take a dip in the cool lake, about 5,000 m2 wide, located at the foot of the waterfall.

Currently, this area has not been exploited for tourism, so it still retains the pristine scenery for visitors to experience immersing in nature.
