Mr. Tran Van Loi, ship number KH-90424-TS, said his ship sailed through the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024 with a fishing period of 20 days and caught 60 ocean tuna.

“Fishing through Tet, everyone worked hard, but luckily they won big. For example, my boat brought back 60 tuna, total weight of more than 2.5 tons, after deducting expenses, the profit was 150 million VND. At the beginning of the year, every boat in Khanh Hoa was profitable, fishermen were very excited,” Mr. Loi shared.

According to Dan Tri’s research ,  the price of grade 1 ocean tuna (quality and weight) in Khanh Hoa is purchased at 110,000 VND/kg, 10,000 VND/kg higher than neighboring province Phu Yen. .

Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Head of Hon Ro Fishing Port Management Board, said that at Hon Ro Port there are about 80 ships going fishing during Tet. From the beginning of the year until now, ocean tuna fishing vessels that have landed at the port have won big with an average output of 2 tons/vessel, with some vessels reaching more than 4 tons.

“In general, the fishing boats at Hon Ro port during their fishing trips at the beginning of the year were profitable, so the fishermen were very excited,” Mr. Ba shared.
