Although only planted in a small area, but the French fern model gives Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung (41 years old) Tan Loi village, Dak Rmoan commune, Gia Nghia town (Dak Nong) an average monthly income of more than 60 million copper.

Referring to the predestined relationship to plant ferns, Mr. Dung said: “I did learn a lot about the flower gardens in Lam Dong and saw that there were very few leaf plants planted there for decoration. Realizing the opportunity to make money, I immediately went back to the researcher and decided to plant this fern ”.

In 2013, Mr. Dung and his wife started borrowing money everywhere to build a model of growing French ferns. Initially, he only invested in planting 1000 m² of fern at a cost of about VND 250 million including net house and seed tubers. Later, seeing high profits, he continued to invest in expanding the area to 3000 m².

According to Mr. Dung, with the current 3000 m²of French ferns each month, minus the cost of fertilizing, he earns more than 60 million VND. French ferns are also very easy to grow, just plant a bulb about 4-5 months later for a long-term harvest. In addition, this is a plant that is very rarely affected by pests and has a stable price in the market.

Currently, every three days, Mr. Dung will harvest fern leaves to sell once to sell to Lam Dong and Ho Chi Minh City . Each fern is sold for 2,000 – 3,000 VND.

Over the past few years, Mr. Dung has also introduced to many surrounding households and has some good profits from French ferns. “In the near future, I will invest in expanding the breeding model to meet the people living far away”, Mr. Dung said.
