Unlike Tung, Dao Van Hiep (Yen Bai’s hometown) is a “patron” of the free barber shop when this is the 6th time he came to cut his hair. “Haircuts are free, especially young people who serve very enthusiastic, attentive, friendly. As workers away from home, to participate in meaningful activities that make us warm hearted, also somewhat save sugar scales, cake boxes sent home for children” – Mr. Hiep confided.
By late afternoon, the counter was getting more crowded. Wiping their faces in sweat, dusting their coats filled with cement dust, many workers happily waited for their turn to cut their hair. Mr. Tran Duc Duy – a member of the free haircut team excited: “The first time I saw free haircuts, people were a little afraid. But so far, this activity is known more people make the team feel excited, more motivated “please visitors, please guests”. Although it is free, the team receives a lot of affection every day through handshakes, sincere thanks.
It is known that the free barber shop for workers, poor motorbikes comes from the idea of Mr. Vu The Khai, owner of Lam Barber men’s barber system in Hai Phong. In addition to maintaining free haircuts for workers, Khai’s barber group organized many volunteer activities, free haircuts for children of Hoa Phuong Children’s Village, the elderly anchored in the House of Love …
“I myself have experienced difficult times so I understand the hard work of workers, especially workers away from home. Sometimes because they are too busy to live, they forget to take care of themselves, or also want to save somewhat for their family. From that thought, I started a free haircut on the sidewalk near the construction site, where there are a large concentration of workers” – Mr. Khai said.
Currently, after more than 1 year of implementation, Mr. Khai’s mobile barber shop passes through many locations, serving an average of 30 customers every day. Aimed at workers, free workers, motorbikes, the barber shop operates from 15 to 19h daily (except Sundays). “It is expected that after aeonmall project is completed, the barber shop will move to the area near the Institute of Marine Medicine to serve patients, patients’ families as well as disadvantaged workers. In addition to free haircuts, I will base the covid-19 epidemic to implement more free drinking water activities for people to cut their hair” – Mr. Khai said.
