There is nearly a month left until the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, but many “huge” grapefruit trees, worth tens of millions of dong, have been brought to Thanh Hoa city for sale by traders.

Over the past week, dozens of pots of ancient Dien grapefruit, emitting a fragrant scent in the Nui Long urban area, Thanh Hoa city of Mr. Le Dinh Phuong (hometown of Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province) have attracted many customers to visit. . 

Mr. Phuong said that his stall has 50 ancient grapefruit trees to serve the needs of people during the Lunar New Year of the Dragon in 2024. These grapefruit trees were purchased by him from Hung Yen province for sale.

Most of Mr. Phuong’s grapefruit trees have big, tall trunks, eye-catching shapes and lots of fruit. Mr. Phuong said, each grapefruit tree has from 50 to more than 100 fruits, mainly grafted fruits. 

Although there is nearly a month left until the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the ancient grapefruit trees here have already had customers coming to see and place orders.

Grapefruit roots with a diameter of 15 to 30cm are mixed with stones, rockery, grass and moss by the garden owner to increase the antiquity.

Currently, ornamental grapefruit is for sale from 15 to 35 million VND/pot, depending on size and shape.

Not far from Mr. Phuong’s booth, Mr. Pham Ngoc Anh (residing in Thanh Hoa city) is taking care of the Dien grapefruit roots.

Mr. Ngoc Anh said that this year he sold nearly 100 large Dien grapefruit trees and 320 small grapefruit trees. Even though it’s not yet Lunar New Year, he has already sold more than 10 grapefruit trees, promising a bumper Tet harvest.
