Chau Thoi Pagoda

Hoi Khanh Pagoda

At the time of Le Hien Tong, Hoi Khanh Pagoda was painted. In 1868 during the reign of Emperor Tu Duc, the pagoda was severely destroyed due to the war, and Venerable Thich Chanh Dac built a new temple. The pagoda was restored, built and maintained to this day at 35 Yersin, Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city.

The architecture of the pagoda is designed with 4 parts: electricity bill, main hall, lecture hall with 92 precious wooden columns. Finally, Dong lang and Tay lang are arranged in a “arranged in pairs” style, connecting with the architecture of “overlapping, coincidental” – a special variation in the architecture of the ancient southern pagoda tradition. Photo: Quynh Tran

There is also a 22m-high Buddha station built in the land in front of the pagoda. The ground floor is a block of 64m long, 23m wide, used as a Buddhist school, library … The upper floor is decorated with a statue of Buddha Thich Ca in Nirvana, 12m high and 52m long. This statue is recognized by the Asian Foundation as “The longest statue of Buddha entered Nirvana on the roof of the pagoda in Asia”. Photo: Quynh Tran.

Tibetan Temple

The pagoda located in Thu Dau Mot city was built in 1928 with the first name of Buu Huong Tu. In 1937 the temple was renamed as it is today after the abbot’s trip to Tibet to study Buddhism. At the time of construction, the pagoda was just a small shrine dedicated to Buddha. After a major restoration in 1992, the pagoda resembled a tantric temple in Tibet.

The main hall is surrounded by a towering garden, with a square structure, the highlight is the stupa to worship relics and the quadrilateral with a height of over 15m. On the rooftop, the pagoda has five shrines to worship 5 Buddhas. Only on the full moon day, the first month or a big holiday, the pagoda is open to visitors to the rooftop to worship. Photo: Quynh Tran

Behind the main hall is a statue of Dat Ma Su To, confirmed by the Vietnam Record book as the largest hair statue in Vietnam. The statue was made in 1982, nearly 3m high. From the frame made of iron, the material for the statue is mainly hair obtained from Buddhists.

Thien Hau pagoda

Initially, the pagoda was located on the Huong Chu Hieu canal, the year of construction is unknown. Until 1923, after the temple was damaged by fire, four Chinese states here joined forces to rebuild this temple located at 4 Nguyen Du Street, Thu Dau Mot City.

Ong Ngua Pagoda

This place is also known as Ong pagoda or Thanh An pagoda, located on Hung Vuong street, Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city. The pagoda has a “Nhat” shaped architecture, consisting of a row of houses, built in the architectural style of Hue pagodas. Most of the structure of the main hall is made of wood, later when restored, it was completely rebuilt with reinforced concrete, the wooden door of the main hall was also completely renovated.
