The restaurant’s manager said he received information about the US diplomatic delegation’s visit two days ago and speculated that the restaurant was chosen because of its “cozy space and appropriate architecture”.

All Day Coffee was born in 2018 at 37 Quang Trung, the address in Hang Bun is the second facility, operating since the end of 2019 and located in a renovated 125-year-old old house. The name All Day Coffee means “a coffee place so wonderful and familiar that you want to spend all day there”. The shop has a closed space, uses air conditioning, with two floors, each floor is about 100 m2, designed in a classic European architectural style.

All Day Coffee is open from 7am to 11pm every day. The menu has 33 drinks such as coffee, tea, smoothies, and juices. The egg coffee enjoyed by the US Secretary of State is the shop’s signature drink, focused on developing and positioning the brand.

The shop uses many types of coffee beans such as arabica and robusta. Coffee beans are divided into batches of 3 kg, roasted directly at the shop to ensure freshness. After roasting, the coffee is finely ground into powder.

Lam Dong robusta coffee is used to prepare egg coffee using a filter, lined with paper to filter residue. The barista needs to be technical in pouring and adjusting the speed of pouring water into the filter to create coffee with a bitter chocolate-like taste, a slight wine scent and a rich aftertaste.

After brewing, the coffee is put into an egg-shaped ceramic cup with thick walls to retain heat, ensuring the drink is still hot when served to guests. Egg yolks are beaten until smooth and then poured on top to complete.

At a glance, you can only see a layer of velvety foam covering the top, almost overflowing the rim of the 200 ml cup. The egg foam is moderately sweet, with the greasy taste of the yolk. When tasting the coffee, the first taste you feel is sour, then acrid and slightly bitter lingers in the throat, then gradually turns sweet, with a faint aroma of coffee in the mouth.

But when drinking coffee and egg foam at the same time, the sweetness and fat neutralize the slightly sour and bitter taste. There is no taste that is too strong or too light, even people who are just drinking coffee for the first time can easily enjoy it. A cup of egg coffee costs 69,000 VND, excluding tax.

Thu Thuy (34 years old, Da Nang) visited All Day Coffee on the afternoon of September 11 and was conquered by the taste of egg coffee. “Egg coffee is very fragrant and flavorful, not too sweet,” Ms. Thuy said. She rates the egg coffee here “one nine out of ten” compared to the famous shops in Hanoi she has tried.

The group of customers coming to the restaurant are mainly between the ages of 22 and 35, including students, employees, and domestic and foreign tourists. However, foreign customers often admire egg coffee more than the shop’s other drinks.

The restaurant has a spacious parking area, located right at the intersection of Hang Bun Street and Quan Thanh Street, near Hanoi’s Old Quarter area. The staff at the restaurant communicate well in foreign languages and serve enthusiastically. Customers coming to the restaurant will order at the table and pay when leaving.

In addition to egg coffee, the shop also has about 25 dishes for breakfast, main meals, side dishes and pastries, prices ranging from 50,000 – 200,000 VND. Besides, the shop also sells souvenir products such as ceramic cups, cloth bags, and travel items.
